The end of an era — but probably not an end to the errors
One week left, people. The White House is performing a ritual death dance. Congress has tried to pressure VP Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment, as Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi moves forward to impeach that guy who’s living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for a second time. And that orange stain in the Oval Office is in denial mode. He’s not responsible — for anything, he says.
While the American Patriot in me has been sad and angry at the same time during the past week, the high school English teacher in me wants justice. We need to act, now, to restore a stronger sense of literacy to the core of our national well-being. Weave a new tapestry of words, so to speak.
Below is a cacophony of cretinism — plus my commentary on said stupidity — that has proliferated in our public discourse over the past decade. While some of the photos below originated in the Tea Party era, a good number of them come from MAGA Nation — which may or may not be the same thing, depending on your point-of-view.
