Good news, though — the turd is getting flushed next week
Two years ago this week, the current occupant of the White House told a group of lawmakers working on an immigration bill that he didn’t understand why the country founded as the melting pot of the world would let immigrants from places in Africa, as well as Haiti, El Salvador and other “shithole countries”, as he so graciously termed them, settle in these United States of America.
“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” the son and grandson of immigrants asked the assembled group. I should note that this pathetic excuse for a human being later denied this quote, but I believe the reporting at the time.
According to The Atlantic and other well-regarded publications, minus-45 had even said the following in previous meetings:
“Trump had reportedly complained that Nigerian immigrants would never ‘go back to their huts’ and Haitians ‘all have AIDS’,” the magazine reported. “He doubled down at the Oval Office meeting. ‘Why do we need more Haitians?’ Trump said. ‘Take them out’.”
The Orange Oaf’s remarks caused a shitstorm, of sorts. For one thing, it was the first time respected members of the Fourth Estate had used the “poop” word in print. And then CNN, MSNBC and even Faux News…
